Have you heard about the Silent Guitar?
It is an electric guitar that has nylon strings, which allows one to use the traditional Classical and Spanish guitar techniques.
It is also easier to travel with, and you can practice with your headphones if you are in a hotel or in your tent(!).
The body of the guitar is simply a frame, very similar to an electric violin, and the instrument is amplified by a piezo pickup.
